Following classroom rules is not always an easy thing to do! Especially when you are so excited about being at school and there are so many wonderful things going on around you...however, being able to follow rules and instructions is an important skill all children must build.
Our 5 classroom rules come from a wonderful approach to teaching and learning called Whole Brain Teaching and are;
We have
all been working very hard to follow these rules at school and by doing so, have
been; learning to take responsibility for our own behaviour and actions,
practising patience and turn taking, building resilience, as well as making
sure our classroom a fun and safe place to be for everyone.
Over the last two weeks, we had a friendly 'teachers versus children' competition to encourage the children to follow our classroom rules...and...the children won! Their reward for doing the right thing was a Teddy Bears' Picnic!
We baked and decorated our own cupcakes to enjoy on the day and took them up to the playground at the top of the school where we had a fantastic picnic and play!
We certainly had lots of marvelous things to eat and wonderful games to play!
Later that afternoon, we drew pictures about our day and shared stories about our favourite parts of the Teddy Bears' Picnic.
It was definitely lots of cuddly fun!!
